Purpose and Objectives of the WSDTI

The WSDTI (German-Czech Scientific Foundation) was established in Hamburg in October/November 2002. The purpose of the foundation is to promote science, research and education. The foundation was recognized as an incorporated foundation of civil law by the Chancellery of the Senate of the Free on 10th Decembre, 2002, as well as a non-profit organization by the competent tax authority.

The purpose of the Foundation is to be achieved by activities as the following:

  • Promotion of research into and development of technologies and strategies for water management, hydraulic engineering, the power industry, underground construction as well as urban development;
  • Submission of research applications, e. g. to the EU, in the areas indicated above;
  • Promotion of initial and continuing training of students and of engineers working in the field of profession, by means of technical lectures, seminars and workshops;
  • Promotion of cooperation in activities for implementation of regulations, rules and standards of the EU;
  • Promotion of exchange of students at educational facilities in Germany and the Czech Republic and with other Central and Eastern European countries;
  • Promotion of the establishment of expert information systems as a knowledge basis for mastery of advanced technologies.

The purpose of the foundation is to be achieved by cooperation with universities and institutions particularly from the Central and Eastern European countries. The Foundation is endowed with assets. The Foundation assets may be increased by supplementary endowments (monetary amounts, rights and/or other objects). Donations which are not explicitly specified for increase of the endowment assets are to be used exclusively and in the period directly following donation, for the purposes set out above.

The Foundation has a Management Board, currently comprising 3 persons, a Board of Trustees comprising 9 persons, 2 of whom are from Germany, 3 from the Czech Republic, 3 from the Slovak Republic and 1 from Austria. The Chair of the Board of Trustees is currently Dipl.-Ing. Jaroslav Raclavský, Aut.Ing. of the WSDTI-EFUC Břeclav; the Vice-Chair of the Board of Trustees is currently Professor Dr.-Ing. D.P.F. Möller of the Clausthal University of Technology.
